Downloading an OS data set

Select the Environment to use for the transfer. The old method using emulation or a much faster protocol, FastSSR (TCP/IP). Your network administrator will likely provide you with the necessary FastSSR settings needed for these transfers.

Click on the Receive radio button for Direction.

Select OS data set from the Transfer type dropdown.

Based on your selection for Environment, set the appropriate FastSSR connection options or Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the data, as well as the name of the host data set to download. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name. To aid in selecting a host data set, enter a valid high-level qualifier into the Data set/Qualifier box and click the Browse Host button.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

If receiving a entire PDS(E) data set, check the Download entire PDS checkbox.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, and Data compression parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the data set.

Transferring an entire PDS or PDSE

To transfer an entire PDS or PDSE, follow the instructions for either Uploading to an OS data set or for Downloading an OS data set.

For RECEIVE requests, check the Download entire PDS box. This option causes the Host program to join all members of the selected host PDS and transfer them all at once. The host program inserts special information into the data which enables the members to be split up either on the PC, or when uploaded back to the host.

For SEND requests, check the Upload to PDS/create members box. This options causes the Host program to look for and act upon any embedded member formatting information in the file.

When all options are selected, click the SEND or RECEIVE button to upload to the PDS.

Downloading a VSAM Data Set

Select the Environment to use for the transfer. The old method using emulation or a much faster protocol, FastSSR (TCP/IP). Your network administrator will likely provide you with the necessary FastSSR settings needed for these transfers.

Click on the Receive radio button for Direction.

Select VSAM data set from the Transfer type dropdown.

Based on your selection for Environment, set the appropriate FastSSR connection options or Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the data, as well as the name of the host data set to download. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name. To aid in selecting a host data set, enter a valid high-level qualifier into the Data set/Qualifier box and click the Browse Host button.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer. If there is any binary data in the file, a data type of HBF should be used.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, Data compression, and VSAM parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the data set.

Downloading a Catalog List

Select the Environment to use for the transfer. The old method using emulation or a much faster protocol, FastSSR (TCP/IP). Your network administrator will likely provide you with the necessary FastSSR settings needed for these transfers.

Click on the Receive radio button for Direction.

Select Catalog list from the Transfer type dropdown.

Based on your selection for Environment, set the appropriate FastSSR connection options or Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the datad. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name.

Enter a valid high-level qualifier into the Data set/Qualifier box. Notice the Advanced Browse and Browse Host buttons are disabled.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, and Data compression parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the catalog list.

Downloading a Member List

Downloading Job Status Information

Select Job STATUS from the Transfer type dropdown.

Based on your selection for Environment, set the appropriate FastSSR connection options or Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the data, as well as the name of the jobname to download its status information. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name. To aid in selecting a jobname, enter a jobname into the Jobname box and click the Browse Host button.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, and Data compression parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the job status information.

Downloading Job SYSOUT

Select the Environment to use for the transfer. The old method using emulation or a much faster protocol, FastSSR (TCP/IP). Your network administrator will likely provide you with the necessary FastSSR settings needed for these transfers.

Click on the Receive radio button for Direction.

Select Job SYSOUT from the Transfer type dropdown.

Based on your selection for Environment, set the appropriate FastSSR connection options or Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the data, as well as the name of the JobnName(JobID) combination to download its held SYSOUT data. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name. To aid in selecting a jobname(id) combination, enter a jobname (no ID) into the Jobname(ID) box and click the Browse Host button.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, and Data compression parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the held job SYSOUT data.

Downloading from CICS

Select one of the CICS options from the Environment dropdown.

Click on the Receive radio button for Direction.

Select CICS queue from the Transfer type dropdown.

Set the appropriate Transfer mode options.

Fill in the name of the PC file name to receive the data, as well as the name of the CICS queue to download. Use the PC file name tree to aid in the selection of the PC file name. To aid in selecting a CICS queue, click the Host File Name button.

Select the proper Data type for the transfer.

Select the proper File handling for the transfer.

Use the Advanced tab to specify optional Convert carriage control, Translation table, Convert member, and Data compression parameters.

When all options are selected, click on the RECEIVE button to download the data set.
